My initial walking dead phone case sketches
This is my initial sketches for my Walking Dead phone case. The sketch of the Walking Dead logo went on to become my official walking dead phone case design. In this sketch i used 6 designs that would be related to the show the logo, the silenced gun that Carl grimes uses, the machete that daryl uses, the sheriffs hat that carl wears, the katana that Michonne uses and the walkie talkie that rick and Morgan both had in there possession.

digital art
Millisa casey has created this illustration of south parade pier in south-sea Portsmouth. As you can see she has used a variety of different systems to create this such as illustrator as well as more conventional means like sketches with pencils. The image is very bright and colourful with a variety of colours such as blu, light brown, black and white. The main image has been image traced to be able to give a exact replica look. It is mainly a abstraction not showing the whole pear but showing the most recognised parts of the pier the main building and the bridge.
1. illustrator
image trace
abstraction
2. photoshop
photo montage
image selection
cropping
pasting
Tim Marrs used photoshop to design this work. This second image which relates to London life is much different to the Portsmouth example. First of all rather than a calming and plain image this one is a explosion of images relating to London life ( photo montage). The people and objects such as the traffic lights bottle and cars have all been photoshopped into the image to add a contrast of realism and creativity. The crop tool was used so that these images could be neatly pasted in with no rough edges around the image. The theme of this is a advert for beefeater hence the beefeater bottle and the initials in the bottom corner. Tim Marrs is a graphical designer based in London who incorporates photoshop into his work. His work is mainly digital but does use photography and drawing techniques. The way he uses photoshop and the colours he uses will be my inspiration for my work.
These 3 images are examples of abstract art work I like this style as it holds a element of mystery to it the 1st image is a example of traditional abstract I like this image for its explosion of colour and shapes. The second image is a good quality of artwork as I look the very cool and swirly shapes. Also the unusual theme is what has also caught my eye not giving a exact answer as to what it is about. The 3rd image of a famous name is really interesting because of the collage of black and white and then the rainbow style colours giving a 50 50 theme of seriousness and fun.
The photomontages are really cool cause of the confrontation between art and real life using real life images and exaggerating them with colour and animation. The 1st image is cool because of the mixture of urban life and nature the 3d tower is aesthetically pleasing. The second image is dark gothic and mixed with real life resources and rubbish giving a unique view on society. The 3rd and final image is filled with nature and brimming with colour everything you see is taken from real life with some added colour to provide the exaggeration.
In comparison photomontage looks much more realistic because you have bits of photos that look like real life even though they are stitched together in a random manner. Abstract work looks like it is just shapes that have been simplified and don't really look like real life. Having said this I really like some of the art work created in a abstract manner.
In conclusion I like the photomontages best I love the best of both worlds with the real life mixed with exaggeration of animation and colour. This is why I like it best.

mr nutcase walking dead phone case plans
During my choosing of themes for my phone case i looked into my 5 biggest current loves which was Portsmouth fc, video games, films, doctor who and the walking dead. In the end i came to the choice of the walking dead due to the fact that i feel a walking dead phone case would be extremely appealing to tons of worldwide fans as well as my self. The other ideas i had huge passions for too but i have already used these for other projects before so using the walking dead was something unique and fresh for me.
The walking dead is a franchise that is based on the story of a group of survivors struggling to survive the zombie apocalypse. The franchise covers most forms of media originating as a comic book that is still continuing and then getting so popular that a tv series was commissioned which is now in its 5th season along with a spin off series being in production. A video game series was spawned too which became a huge hit winning various game of the year awards. The unique part of the franchise is that rather than focusing on zombies it actually has most of the focus on the survivors and how they survive this new harsh world. I would love to design a new walking dead phone case that is based on the comic book series.

my urban juice evaluation
The task i had for this assignment was to create my own unique urban juicer that would prove suitable for the younger consumers. The idea is that the urban juicers colours and designs would be based on various fruits of my choice aswell as representing a music genre or act of your choice. The whole point of this is to promote a healthy urban refreshing drink with fun and vibrant colours. My fruits was orange and banana this was to give a positive fun feeling.
The target audience for my urban juicer is children aged 3 all the way up to early teens. The hope is that this drink will persuade young people to live a more healthy lifestyle keeping more active rather than being lazy and doing nothing.
I began the project by researching 3 famous artists that have inspired this design these are Banksy,Blu and sixeart. Once i completed this research i also gave my own opinions on their work effectively doing a essay. Next i began colouring in my urban juicer prototypes in order to give me a selection to choose from when it comes to the final design. Next i used illustrator to colour in my final design and add the designs i had planned. Once it was produced i had to cut it out and then build it up. All these tasks was interesting and fun and i felt accomplished in completing my work. The bit i most enjoyed doing was using adobe illustrator.
I had difficulty colouring in the prototypes cause it was so time consuming and also hard to keep neat and tidy. The most painstaking work was creating the final work cutting it out was tough cause if i cut it up by accident i would not get a second chance. The building of it was incredibly hard and fiddly especially aligning the sides together. Timing was also a issue i finished the work right at the last minute.
My main inspiration for this design was sixeart because of how bright the colours were and the exciting themes they are usually related to. The image below is a example of sixearts work.
I decided to mix a genre of music rather than stick with one singer the genre i matched it with was dubstep. I feel the genre can be raw and explosive giving a fresh feel on the world of music. This genre also gives you alot of energy effectively waking you up.
The reason i wasn't inspired by the other artists (banksy and blu) is because their focus on colours was different to mine as they both use a limited amount of colours usually just plain grey although blu sometimes makes a exception making vibrant designs. Its for these reasons entirely that sixeart became my main sole inspiration.
In conclusion i enjoyed doing this project the planning and colouring was fun and interesting and the actual making while a pain was rewarding in the end. I can take away from this a huge respect for these artists especially my inspiration for these urban juicers sixeart.
